Indications
Diode laser hair removal is especially popular among people whose
hobbies or profession requires high standards for appearance, such as
actors, singers, dancers, athletes, models. The service is worth using
for everyone who wants to get rid of unwanted hairs for many years –
regardless of gender, age and hair structure. There are a number of
medical indications: hypertrichosis – a large number of hairs in the
usual areas; hirsutism – hair growth in women above the upper lip, on
the chin, shoulders, chest, lower abdomen, inner thighs and back; skin
sensitivity – other methods can lead to severe irritation in the treated
area; tendency to ingrown hairs – the laser most effectively fights
ingrown hairs and prevents the appearance of new ones.
Pay attention
Laser hair removal with a diode laser has significant advantages, but
there is also a disadvantage, which we honestly warn visitors about.
Eliminating unwanted hair in one session is not possible. The beam
destroys bulbs that are in the active growth stage. Therefore, after the
first session, the amount of hair decreases approximately by 20%. The
number of visits to the beautician depends on the area being treated and
the characteristics of the body. To achieve an impeccable result, you
will need to spend 6-12 sessions with breaks of 4-6 weeks in between.
The disadvantages are mistakenly attributed to the inability to provide
laser hair removal in the summer. But this is a myth. Experts recommend
more skin care in the warm season. You should not be in direct sunlight
two weeks before and after hair removal. We advice to use a cream with a
protection factor of SPF 50 before going outside.
Contraindications to the procedure
Laser hair removal procedure is prohibited for patients with:
- ischemic heart disease;
- hepatitis B and C;
- oncological diseases;
- diabetes mellitus (stage of decompensation);
- hemophilia;
- the presence of keloid scars;
- severe varicose veins in the treated area;
- photodermatosis;
- drugs that increase the photosensitivity of the skin;
- the presence of metal in the body.
There are also temporary contraindications. It is worth refraining from
the procedure for a while due to the following reasons:
- intake of vitamins (A, E, folic acid, biotin, zinc);
- intake of antibiotics (tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones);
- pregnancy, the first three months of breastfeeding;
- tan;
- herpes in the acute stage;
- any infections;
- skin diseases.
How to Prepare for the Procedure
Before laser hair removal, it is important to shave the treatment area 1–3 days prior so that the hair length is approximately 1 mm. Simple recommendations ensure the effectiveness of the procedure. LaserSkin experts advise following these guidelines:
- Do not perform waxing or sugaring, nor remove hair by any other method than shaving, 3 weeks prior to your visit. These methods should not be used throughout the entire treatment course.
- Avoid sunbathing or visiting a solarium for at least 1 week before and after the session.
- Stop taking antibiotics (tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones), vitamins A and E, zinc, folic acid, retinoids, and biotin for at least 1 week prior to the procedure.
- Do not apply skin products containing alcohol 3 days before laser hair removal.
Proper preparation ensures comfort during the procedure and the best possible results.
Procedure Process
The session takes place in a modern center equipped specifically for laser hair removal. We use disposable consumables and disinfect the equipment before each session.
Consultation
The cosmetologist assesses any contraindications, provides recommendations, and selects the optimal laser operating mode based on your skin type, hair structure, and color.
Hair Removal
The specialist examines the treatment area. A contact gel is applied to the skin, which protects it and facilitates smooth movement of the device head (manipula). The hair removal process lasts between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Recommendations
At the end of the session, the specialist will give recommendations for
skin care after the procedure.
After the first visit to Laserskin you will notice that there is less
hair. For several days after the session, the skin may turn a little
red, slight swelling, itching and peeling are acceptable. Hair will
begin to fall out 2-3 weeks after the procedure. After the first visits,
the hairs may grow back, but will become thinner, lighter and softer.
With each new visit to the center there will be more and more areas with
smooth skin. An important nuance: after 3-5 sessions, “paradoxical
growth” is possible. The bulbs are trying to recover, so their
maturation is activated. During this period, it is important to continue
the sessions, and after 6-12 visits the skin will be absolutely smooth.
Taking care for the skin after the procedure
After the session, it is necessary to care properly for the treated
areas.
Our recommendations:
- Do not use scrubs, dermarolls and peels. Use a soft washcloth while
showering.
- Stay away from swimming pools, saunas and gyms. Follow this rule for
the first 3 days after the session.
- Apply sunscreen to exposed skin. Refrain from sunbathing, do not
visit solariums for 14 days.
Follow simple care tips to avoid negative consequences after the
procedure and ensure excellent results – smooth, delicate skin without
unwanted ingrown hairs.
